With a tribute to Collodi's genius, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the airing of the most successful film of his masterpiece "The Adventures of Pinocchio", the 12th edition of "NavigArte. NavigAzioni fra danza, musica, arti visive alla Porta del Mar", the international festival born in 2011 from an idea of Movimentoinactor/Con.Cor.D.A., directed by Flavia Bucciero and supported by the Region of Tuscany, the Pisa Foundation and the Municipality of Pisa with the collaboration of the University of Pisa, UniCoopFi, the Migliarino San Rossore Massaciuccoli Regional Park, the Cerratelli Foundation, R.A.T.

Special guest of the opening evening, Thursday 8 September at 5 p.m., will be the Pisa actor Andrea Balestri, interpreter of Luigi Comencini's Pinocchio. The evening will get into full swing with the site-specific show "Pinocchio around the Park", which the public will be able to enjoy by boarding the little train that will take them on a fascinating artistic dance walk inspired by Collodi's Pinocchio in the enchanting places of the suggestive and intoxicating San Rossore Park. Participants will also be able to discover the garden of the restored Villa del Gombo, exceptionally accessible on this occasion.

There are many shows on the programme, suitable for all ages with a focus also on children. And until 14 October 2022, the International Festival that highlights, through the languages of dance, theatre, music and visual arts, the relationship of the city of Pisa with its waterways, between tradition and the future, will have other important surprises in store. The festival's flagship is, in fact, the two days of intensive dance performances by nationally and internationally renowned companies scheduled for 9 and 10 September at the Giardino Scotto near the Lungarno Fibonacci. Among the special guests is the ProArt Company from the Czech Republic. And, as a preview, we will see the danced tribute to Renata Tebaldi on the occasion of the 100th year since the birth of one of the most intense and significant voices of Opera of all time.

The programme
NavigArte opens on Thursday 8 September at 5 p.m. with 'Pinocchio around the Park'. The Pisan actor Andrea Balestri, interpreter of Luigi Comencini's Pinocchio, will take part in the event, and the public will be able to enjoy the show by boarding the little train that will take them on a fascinating artistic dance walk inspired by Collodi's Pinocchio in the spaces of the evocative and intoxicating San Rossore Park.

On Friday 9 and Saturday 10 September, the enchanting Giardino Scotto will be the ideal setting for a danced tribute to Renata Tebaldi, one of the most intense and significant voices of Opera of all time, on the occasion of the 100th year since her birth. The event is organised by Con.Cor.D.A. and Fondazione Cerratelli and will take place at 8.00 p.m.. It will be followed by the performance of the Ballet of Naples "Specula", a passionate dedication by choreographer Antonio Colandrea to the great poet Michele Sovente. The evening will be closed by "Piramo e Tisbe" by the Compagnia Borderline Danza, the moving love story recounted by Ovid in his Metamorphoses and which later became the inspiration for the ill-fated Shakespearean love story of Romeo and Juliet.

On Saturday 10 September, the opera and dance performance "Renata Tebaldi: una voce d'Angelo" will be repeated in the same location, followed by an evening dedicated to Beethoven with the performance "Immortal Beloved / LUDWIG B." by the Czech company ProArt, a story based on Beethoven's letter to an unknown recipient from 1812. Followed at 9.30 p.m. by 'The Ninth. Quel che resta di noi e della terra" by the Compagnia Movimentoinactor/Con.Cor.D.A., Flavia Bucciero's choreography to the composer's music celebrates a new regenerative encounter between man and nature.

On Saturday 24 September at 9.00 p.m. at Teatri di Danza e delle Arti in Corte Sanac, the Compagnia Asmed/Balletto di Sardegna will stage "Look Parade", a tribute to the light and fabulous 80s, and "Welcome tu Italy", a hymn to Italians, free and cheerful, but also travellers/colonisers and prisoners of their own home. There is great expectation for "Divino-Terza Apparizione" the show signed by Natiscalzi/Compagnia Abbondanza Bertoni scheduled for Friday 30 September at 21.00 at Teatri di Danza e delle Arti in Corte Sanac. The project, winner of the Bando Toscana Terra Accogliente and hosted in Artistic Residency at the Con.Cor.D.A. Consortium for the Artists in the Territories Project, questions where the sense of the divine resides in everyday urban life. "Women Before a Glass" is the performance for a single actress, Caterina Casini, which will be staged on Sunday 2 October at 21.00 at Teatri di Danza e delle Arti in Corte Sanac. Permanent Workshops creates four pictures in which moments from Peggy Guggenheim's last years are recounted in a nonchalant and transgressive language.

Wednesday 5 October at 9 p.m., the Chille de la Balanza theatre company will perform 'I just want to try to be happy', a hymn to the efforts of creative love as created love devours itself, by French actress and writer Colette Thomas. In the same location Teatri di Danza e delle Arti in Corte Sanac, on Friday 7 October, again at 9 pm, "Il più bel Cantico fra i Cantici" with live music by Antonio Ferdinando Di Stefano will be performed. In the age of pandemics, the question arises as to how to reconcile distance, or rather the distances, the estrangement, the loss of loved ones with an idea of permanence within ourselves.

Grand finale on Friday 14 October with the French company Silenda - Caen presenting "Derangement/Desordre" by Damiano Foà. A powerful reflection on the many factors that divide people: from noise and light pollution to the omnipresence of digital screens (from telephones to computer screens), and at the same time a proposal to elevate/re-elevate oneself also through art.
