Fighters, cyclists, cardinals, Boy Scouts, boisterous students, and tourists in black and white. Pisa as you have never seen it before.
On Sunday, May 24 at 9:30 p.m., a special walking cinema tour will take place, guiding participants through the city within a “distributed film” composed of family footage, immersive sound storytelling, music, and itinerant video projections. A unique experience at the intersection of memory, cinema, and urban space, in which every wall, square, and alleyway becomes a screen onto the past.
From Giardino Scotto to Piazza dei Miracoli, via the Lungarni, Piazza dei Cavalieri, and Bagni di Nerone, participants will walk through a 1950s–60s Pisa: the Giro d’Italia along the curves of the Bagni di Nerone, the “baforino” train to the seaside, rebellious and high-spirited students, Pope Paul VI visiting the Cathedral, the Gioco del Ponte, Boy Scouts, and children’s driving practice at the Giardino Scotto.
- Through headphones: music, storytelling, and vernacular readings by Lorenzo Gremigni
- Live musical accompaniment by Ines Felicienne Cuccu (guitar with effects pedals)
- Screenings of Super 8 footage and archival films collected through the MOSAICO PISA project by Acquario della Memoria, supported by the Fondazione Pisa and the Municipality of Pisa, in collaboration with the University of Pisa, 8mmezzo (Livorno), and Arsenale
An immersive journey through collective history and private memory, where the city itself becomes cinema.
