To fund the project “psychological home care for cancer patients and their families”, the Pisa branch of the ANT Foundation has organised a major event, “ANTologia d’autore”, scheduled for Thursday 30 April at 9.15 pm at the Teatro Verdi in Pisa.
The Pisa Philharmonic Wind Orchestra, conducted by Maestro Paolo Carosi, presents the monographic concert “John Williams: the music of Hollywood”.
Who doesn’t know John Williams, the American pianist, conductor and composer?
If the name isn’t familiar to you, his music certainly is!
At ninety-four years of age, with a long-standing career as the composer of some of Hollywood’s most famous soundtracks, he holds a very clear conviction: music should not merely accompany images, but should tell their story. A key concept that transforms the way audiences experience cinema and music itself.
You’ll have the chance to hear his most famous and beloved compositions (Superman, Indiana Jones, Jurassic Park, Hook and others) in a carefully curated programme that reconstructs, track by track, a piece of his biography, revealing the techniques, context and compositional originality of this genius of contemporary music. The grand finale is not to be missed: two tracks from Star Wars, two true legends of our collective imagination, capable of shaping the modern epic.
The event, ‘ANTologia d’autore’, will be presented by Francesca Franceschi, a journalist, and Renato Raimo, an actor and Artistic Director of the Arpa Foundation. The guest of honour will be the actor, comedian and playwright Paolo Hendel, who will perform one of his monologues, directed by Stefano Bini.
The evening event is sponsored by CNA Pisa, the Region of Tuscany, the Province of Pisa, the Municipality of Pisa, the Scuola Normale Superiore, the CNR, Confesercenti Pisa, Confcommercio Pisa and Fondazione Arpa. With the support of the Region of Tuscany, Lions Club Pisa Certosa, CAEN, PP-Photo, msg, Casa Capone and La Pergoletta.

The ANT Foundation, an organisation that has been providing home care for cancer patients and promoting cancer prevention since 1978, opened a branch in Pisa in 2024, on the initiative of volunteer and representative Pietro Augello.
The work of the ANT Foundation is based on the principle of Eubiosia (from the Greek, eu/good - bios/life, ‘the good life – life with dignity’), understood as a set of qualities that confer dignity upon life, at every stage of the illness. This value underpins the free specialist home-based medical care for cancer patients and the cancer prevention projects, made possible in many parts of Italy mainly through donations from companies and private individuals.
The Pisa branch of the ANT Foundation has long been involved in fundraising, which has so far enabled the organisation of free check-ups open to the public for the early diagnosis of various conditions. Among the projects we hope to launch in the near future is a home-based psychological support service for cancer patients and their families. This is an essential service in the process of ‘caring for’ the individual, and more generally for their network of relationships, to ensure the best possible quality of life.
