Sunday 3 September sees the renewal of the appointment with #domenicaalmuseo, the initiative of the Ministry of Culture that allows free entry every first Sunday of the month to state museums and archaeological parks. 

The Museo Nazionale di San Matteo will be open free of charge from 9 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. (last admission at 1 p.m.).

At 11:00 a.m., Professor Marco Collareta, former professor of Medieval Art History at the University of Pisa, returns to the museum with a new meeting, this time dedicated to the 'Madonna of Milk'.
The sweet sculptural effigy has recently returned after being exhibited at the exhibition "L'istante e l'eternità. Between us and the ancients', Rome, Baths of Diocletian.

The masterpiece, created according to the most recent criticism by Andrea Pisano in the fifth decade of the 14th century, is an excellent example of sculpture from the mature Gothic period. Among the works that decorated the interior of the Pisan church of Santa Maria della Spina, the 'Madonna del Latte' was moved to the museum in 1946.

The Museo Nazionale di Palazzo Reale will be open free of charge from 9 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. (last admission at 1 p.m.) with a free visit at 11 a.m.

The museums of the Sistema Museale d'Ateneo will also have free admission:

- Botanical Garden and Museum, open from 8.30 am to 7 pm.

- Museo della Grafica, open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., with the two exhibitions:

  • Fashion, Sport, Tourism
  • For Giuseppe Viviani. Homage to the Prince of Boccadarno

- Egyptological Collections, open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., with the exhibition:

  • From Egypt to Pisa: Gaetano Rosellini and his Collections
