IL SALOTTO MUSICALE VI edition

Museo delle Navi Antiche di Pisa – Domus Mazziniana – Gipsoteca di Arte Antica e Antiquarium

Associazione Culturale Chi vuol esser lieto sia... presents "IL SALOTTO MUSICALE VI edition" under the patronage of the Municipality of Pisa.

Friday 27 May at the Museo delle Navi Antiche in Pisa, Saturday 25 June at the Domus Mazziniana and Saturday 24 September at the Gipsoteca di Arte Antica e Antiquarium.

The Salotto Musicale is a project born in 2015 from an idea of Anna Ulivieri and Chiara Tarantino in collaboration with Laboratorio MuseOggi of the Department of Civilisations and Forms of Knowledge, the University Museum System and the Gipsoteca di Arte Antica e Antiquarium of the University of Pisa.

Not just chamber music concerts, but windows on different eras and places, original compositions or presented according to arrangements made by the musicians themselves for a reinterpretation inspired by the desire to recreate the atmospheres and spirit that has always animated music-making.

After an interruption of the events with the suspension of the last event of the fifth edition in March 2020, the Associazione Chi vuol esser lieto sia... nevertheless continued its activities and collaboration with the Gipsoteca di Arte Antica of Pisa, producing in autumn 2020 on video the artistic project "CLASSIC#JAZZ" introduced by presentations of the museum by Dr. Chiara Tarantino.

During 2021 the Association then embarked on a new collaboration with the Museum of Ancient Ships in Pisa, realising the video project "NAYS" from an idea of Anna Ulivieri already at the news of the discovery of shipwrecks during the works along the railway line next to Pisa San Rossore Station and the establishment of a dedicated museum.

'Nays', the ancient Greek word for vessel, is the name chosen about ten years ago for the project of traditional and folk-inspired music carried out by Anna Ulivieri and Dario Paganin with the contribution of other musicians. Nays is to be understood as the archetypal ship, the first with which man began to plough the sea that until then had divided him from other men who were the same and at the same time different from him in culture, language and experience, but which then became the mirror in which the temperaments and feelings of the peoples living on its shores are reflected. Music is the lingua franca with which to express them, rich in both contaminations and the signs that distinguish the different identities.

In the video, the music of NAYS resounds through the rooms of the Museum of Ancient Ships in Pisa, on the shores of the last sea they sailed in the Migliarino San Rossore Massaciuccoli Natural Park and as far as Corliano, where San Torpè was baptised, whose tortured body was abandoned at sea on a boat.

In 2022, a collaboration with the Domus Mazziniana of Pisa will also begin on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of Giuseppe Mazzini's death, and a new video is currently being made in which the museum is presented by Director Pietro Finelli on the notes of some pieces of film music that recount Giuseppe Mazzini's years.

The videos were made with the patronage and contribution of the Municipality of Pisa by Marco Rosati, musician and film author, screenwriter, cameraman and video editor.

The Salotto Musicale with the 6th edition resumes with an appointment in each museum articulated in three different moments: the visit and presentation of the museum, the projection of the video realised in the museum, and an artistic performance each time different by the same artists.

The aim is to promote the territory and its historical, cultural and architectural riches, and the artists themselves involved, who draw new inspiration from them.
