From Saturday 18 March to Wednesday 12 April 2023, GAMeC, Modern Art Centre in Pisa, presents 'Carlo D'Orta: Architextures/ Architectural Abstractions'.

A traveller and photographer for over 40 years, in the years 2002-2012 he dedicated himself to the study of contemporary art and attended advanced courses in painting at the Rome University of Fine Arts (RUFA) and a master's degree in photography at the Istituto Europeo di Design (IED) in Milan. His photographic vision underwent a complete transformation. He abandoned the documentary approach and looked for shots tending towards abstraction, or veined with a metaphysical/surrealist vision.
Carlo d'Orta in fact uses the camera not to document or chronicle, but to extract pictorial images from reality that really exist, but we can hardly ever see.
