On Tuesday 1 November for the All Saint's day, you can admire the large painted panel depicting "Saint Ursula saving Pisa from the waters", 14th century, relocated to the museum after a long and complex restoration, you will have the opportunity to take part in a free guided tour from 11:00 a.m. 

The painting is distinguished by its size and its considerable dimensions of 1.88 x 3.58 metres.

Pisa is depicted as a young woman stretching out her hands towards Saint Ursula who grasps her by the arm, saving her from the waters.

The restoration, financed by the Pisa Foundation through Art Bonus, carried out by the restorers of the Art-E' business network, under the direction of Pierluigi Nieri, remedied the conservation problems that the work presented and, thanks also to targeted diagnostic investigations, provided new knowledge on the material and technical aspects of the artefact.

Please note that the San Matteo museum is open from Tuesday to Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. (last entrance at 6:30 p.m.), Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. (last entrance at 1:00 p.m.).
