Following the celebrations of Shavu'ot, also known as the Jewish Pentecost, guided tours of the cemetery in Piazza dei Miracoli resume with an important new feature: from June 12 it will be open to visitors every Sunday morning without reservation, with escorted tours departing at 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., with an additional appointment at 3 p.m.
Active since 1674 alongside the Antiche Mura, characterized by a remarkable architectural and stylistic variety, the cemetery is a treasure trove of stories and anecdotes about the Jewish community and Pisa: the likes of former Mayor Alessandro D'Ancona, Carlo Cammeo, as well as some members of the Pontecorvo family are buried here.
