NATIONAL MUSEUM OF SAN MATTEO, Piazza San Matteo In Soarta, 1 -

Evening opening of state-owned cultural sites at the symbolic price of 1 €

9.30 pm - The Madonna of the Merchants by Barnaba da Modena narrated by Prof. Marco Collareta.
The signed work is considered the masterpiece of Barnaba da Modena, an aristocratic artist active mainly in Piedmont and Genoa, called to Pisa in 1379 to fresco a wall in the Monumental Cemetery with the Stories of San Ranieri. The master never completed the commission, but it was perhaps on this occasion that the Guild of Merchants of Pisa commissioned the large panel, as the inscription on the frame attests (CIVES ET MERCATORES PISANI PRO SALUTE).

On 13 May the National Museum of Palazzo Reale will also be open extraordinarily from 8.00 p.m. to 11.00 p.m. at the symbolic cost of 1 euro. There will be a free guided tour at 9.30 pm.
