"Fine Novecento. Pisa and the changing world' is the latest photographic exhibition proposed by Palazzo Blu with images from the Frassi archive owned by the Fondazione Pisa.

The exhibition, which opens to the public on 7 December 2023 and can be visited until 31 March 2024, concludes a cycle of stories told through images that recall the life of the city from the 1920s to the end of the past century.
The exhibition 'The End of the 20th Century. Pisa and the changing world' is realised with the scientific collaboration of Dr. Bruno Settis.
In the last decades of the 20th century, the city of Pisa took part in an intense season, full of events of historical significance and changes in the world and in our country that are reflected in many of the photos in the exhibition. A number of personalities from international and national politics and the main historical events, including the leaden years of terrorism and the underworld, are present.
The exhibition is not a detailed and exhaustive reconstruction of thirty years of history, but aims to recall or to make known, through Pisa's perception of it, some of the most important events and phenomena of that period. It also recalls personalities from the worlds of science, culture and entertainment, urban changes, the city chronicle, Romeo Anconetani's football and the alarm over the collapse of the Leaning Tower.

It was at this time, in June 1989, that Pisa was enriched by a great work of contemporary art, the most important among those created in the city in the 20th century, destined to achieve international fame: Keith Haring's mural entitled Tuttomondo.

Luciano Frassi has illustrated half a century of the city's history with thousands of shots, from crime to sporting news, from customs to the happy and painful events of the city.

The exhibition is promoted by Palazzo Blu, realised with the support of Fondazione Pisa, and under the patronage of the Region of Tuscany and the Municipality of Pisa.
