Friday, 20 March 2026 marks the return of Università Svelate, an initiative organised on the occasion of National University Day and promoted by the Conference of Italian University Rectors (CRUI), with the patronage of the Ministry of University and Research (MUR).


Università Svelate is an opportunity to share the scientific and cultural heritage that the academic community produces for the society that supports it. A day of events open to the public free of charge to participate in the life that takes place in universities and observe it from within.

The University Museum System is participating in the initiative again this year with free guided tours of the historical, artistic, scientific and naturalistic collections of its museums, free admission and an informative conference focusing on the collections of the two anatomical museums of human remains, which are currently not accessible to the public.

Below are the initiatives of the University Museum System.

  • MUSEO DELLA GRAFICA 

Admission to the Museum will be free for the entire day during opening hours from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. (last admission at 6:00 p.m.).
At 4:00 pm, there will be a free guided tour of the museum. Visitors will be accompanied by the museum's director, Alessandro Tosi (duration: 1 hour).

Reservations are required and subject to availability by writing to:  educazione.museodellagrafica@sma.unipi.it.

  • ORTO BOTANICO 

Admission will be free for the entire day during opening hours from 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (last admission at 5:00 p.m.).
At 4:00 pm, there will be a free guided tour to discover the Botanical Garden and Museum. Visitors will be accompanied by the director of the Botanical Garden and Museum, Lorenzo Peruzzi (duration 2 hours).

  • COLLEZIONI EGITTOLOGICHE "EDDA BRESCIANI"

Admission will be free throughout the day during opening hours from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. (last admission at 12:00 p.m.).
At 4:00 p.m., there will be a free guided tour to discover the collections. Visitors will be accompanied by the director, Gianluca Miniaci (duration 1 hour).

  • GIPSOTECA DI ARTE ANTICA E ATIQUARIUM

At noon, there will be a free guided tour of the plaster cast gallery. Visitors will be accompanied by the director of the gallery, Anna Anguissola.

The guided tour will focus on the exhibition ‘Eternal Dwellings: The Etruscan Tumuli of Colombaie di Volterra’.

  • MUSEO ANATOMICO VETERINARIO 

Admission will be free throughout the day during opening hours from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. (last admission at 1:00 p.m.).
At 4:00 p.m., there will be a free guided tour of the museum. Visitors will be accompanied by the museum director, Elisabetta Gianessi (duration: 1 hour).

  • MUSEO DEGLI STRUMENTI DI FISICA E MUSEO DEGLI STRUMENTI PER IL CALCOLO

Admission will be free throughout the day during opening hours from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. (last admission at 1:30 p.m.).
At 4:00 p.m., there will be a free guided tour to discover the museums. Visitors will be accompanied by the directors of the respective museums, Massimiliano Razzano and Giuseppe Lettieri (duration 2 hours).

  • MUSEO DI ANATOMIA PATOLOGICA E PALEOPATOLOGIA

Palazzo della Sapienza, 4:00 p.m. - ‘Scientific treasures, art and archaeology at the University of Pisa: the anatomical museums’. Informative conference by Valentina Giuffra, director of the Museum of Pathological Anatomy and Palaeopathology, and Gianfranco Natale, director of the ‘Filippo Civinini’ Museum of Human Anatomy, museums that are currently not accessible.
