Ponte di Mezzo dal Lungarno (G. Bettini , Comune di Pisa)
Stop on the bridge, look around, maybe you can smell the scent of the sea, are there seagulls? Is it windy? Stop and take a picture! The most important historical game for the city of Pisa takes place on this bridge, do you know which one it is? Ask a passer-by. (Answer 1 at the bottom of the page)

The game is simple: it all begins with a long procession of 700 extras who wear seventeenth-century clothes and parade along the Arno. Later the challenge on the bridge between the two rivals begins: the northern part and the southern part of the Arno, each side has six teams made up of twenty mighty warriors and a captain: the teams, two at a time, one for the north the other for the south, challenge each other by pushing a large cart on rails, until their opponent's flag falls and the winning team wins the point. Do you know what the two sides that challenge each other are called? You can get help from a passer-by. (Answer 2 at the bottom of the page)

These are the names of the twelve teams:

Nord - Santa Maria, San Francesco, San Michele, Satiri, Mattaccini, Calci.

Sud - Sant’Antonio, San Martino, San Marco, Leoni, Dragoni, Delfini.

The Game of the Bridge.

The two parts are: Tramontana to the north and Mezzogiorno to the south.
