From November 19 to 23, 2025, Pisa will host Zamenhofa Aranĝo Toskana (ZAT) 2025, five days of music, seminars, and culture dedicated to Esperanto, an international language that unites people from all over the world.
An international event in the heart of Tuscany
The event –this is the meaning of “aranĝo” – pays homage both to Tuscany, the region that hosted the Esperanto Congress in Italy (Montecatini Terme) in 2024, and to the creator of the language, the Polish Ludovico Zamenhof.
What unites all the events and participants, both Italian and foreign, is Esperanto, an international language with a simple and regular grammar that facilitates communication between people of different cultures.
A reality rooted in the territory
The Zamenhofa Aranĝo Toskana is organized by the Pisan Esperanto Group, an organization rooted in the area for more than fifty years and to which the figures of Giuseppe Pacelli, Agostino Brizzi and Giuseppe Martini are linked. Pisa is also home to Brunetto Casini's Edistudio, one of the world's largest publishing houses of books in and about Esperanto.
Journalism seminar
The seminar “How to Be a Journalist”, scheduled for November 19-21, will be led by Marco Gasperetti, a longtime contributor to Corriere della Sera and professor of journalism at the University of Pisa, and Massimo Ripani, editor-in-chief of the magazine L'esperanto and editor of the column “Politiko” of the international magazine Monato.
The course will address the structure and roles of an editorial team, the ethics and responsibility of information, interview techniques, writing for the press and the web, and the management of a press office.
Literature and Culture: Franz Kafka in Pisa
As part of the ZAT 2025 program for the literary section, a conference dedicated to Franz Kafka will be held on Friday, November 21, by Mauro Nervi, literary scholar and editor of the book “Kafka. All novels, all short stories and texts published during his lifetime”. (Bompiani, 2023).
