From 30 April to 24 May 2026, the Museo della Grafica in Pisa is hosting "The State of the Art: Young Artists in the Province of Pisa", a project promoted by Alkedo APS as part of Toscanaincontemporanea 2025 under the direction of Lorenzo Belli.
The exhibition, curated by Alessandro Romanini, presents a selection of works created in 2025–2026 by four artists under 35 working in the Pisa area – Francesca Rossello, Louises Will, Waldon and Enrico Bani – offering a comprehensive overview of emerging contemporary art.
Alongside artists whose practice centres on graphic work, such as Waldon – where the line becomes a tool for social intervention and engagement with space – and Enrico Bani, who focuses his practice on writing as a visual form, transforming words into plastic structures and perceptual rhythms, there are artists such as Francesca Rossello, who explores the relationship between body and nature through sculpture and painting, and Louises Will, who constructs altered landscapes in which natural and artificial elements intertwine, presenting a vision marked by contemporary tensions.
In addition to the artworks, the exhibition itinerary includes video-documentaries filmed in the artists’ studios, an integral part of the project, which present to the public not only the works but also the creative processes, contexts and research methods. The exhibition is complemented by the project catalogue, which brings together visual materials and critical texts developed throughout the project.
“The State of the Art” is conceived as an exploration of the present, constructed through a process of mapping, selecting and documenting the artistic practices of artists under 35 in the province of Pisa; this exhibition marks the culmination of this journey, making accessible to the public a body of work that intertwines artistic production and documentation.
The exhibition brings together different artistic languages – sculpture, painting, graphic art and installation – reflecting the diversity of contemporary artistic research and offering an experience that combines viewing the works with an in-depth exploration of the creative processes.
Exhibition opening (free admission): Thursday 30 April 2026, 5.00 pm.
