On the occasion of the Belle Époque exhibition, scheduled at Palazzo Blu from January to April 2026, the Arsenale is offering a free-to-enter exhibition “The Time of Wonders: The Belle Époque in Cinema” in collaboration with Palazzo Blu and MondoMostre, featuring four films set between the end ‘19th and beginning ‘20th centuries, offering different perspectives on a period of great artistic, scientific, and cultural ferment. A journey through the atmospheres, dreams, and contradictions of a fascinating era.
The film festival is free to enter, and the public will receive a coupon for access to the exhibition at Palazzo Blu at a reduced rate on weekdays. Shows start at 8:30 pm.
The festival, which kicks off on Monday, January 26th with the visionary musical Moulin Rouge! by Baz Luhrmann, in fact proposes a journey through the atmospheres, dreams and contradictions of a fascinating era. From the ambiguous and mysterious London of Christopher Nolan's The Prestige (Monday 9 February) to the animated and progressive Paris told in Dilili a Parigi by the master of animation Michel Ocelot (Monday 9 March), up to the Thierry Frémaux's documentary Lumière! discovery of cinema (Monday, March 23), which takes us back to the very origins of cinema, is designed to enrich the exhibition's exhibition path, inviting the public to rediscover the timeless charm of the Belle Époque through the lens of the seventh art.
