A garden nestled amongst books, beauty and solidarity.

"A gift for a book"returns on Saturday 19 September from 10.00 am to 7.00 pm in the Giardino della Limonaia at the Archbishop’s Palace.
A day open to the city, featuring publications from the Opera della Primaziale Pisana, the University of Pisa and Fondazione Pisa. The proceeds will go towards tackling educational poverty in the local area.

The Limonaia reopens to the public for a new edition of “Un libro, un dono”, the initiative that allows visitors to choose a selection of books from the numerous publications made available by the participating organisations, whilst making a donation of their choice in support of the Diocesan Caritas of Pisa.

Following the first event last April, the initiative is expanding and involving new organisations from across the city. Alongside the Opera della Primaziale Pisana, the University of Pisa – with publications from Pisa University Press – and the Pisa Foundation are also taking part, thereby expanding the range of books available to the public. Among the tables set up in the garden, visitors will be able to find art catalogues, academic studies, monographs, scientific publications and in-depth works made available by the participating organisations.

The format remains simple: free entry, a selection of books and a voluntary donation. All proceeds will go to the Diocesan Caritas of Pisa to purchase school supplies and other resources needed to ensure that young people have fairer access to education and training.

The event will take place in the Giardino della Limonaia of the Archbishop’s Palace (which has been fully restored in recent years), an intimate and charming space in the city centre that, for the occasion, becomes a meeting place for cultural institutions, citizens and volunteers.
