The 1980s will be the stars in Pisa on Saturday 18 February thanks to some of the protagonists of those years in which the phenomenon of music to watch exploded and artists such as Madonna, Depeche Mode, Spandau Ballet and many others became worldwide stars thanks to video clips. With music also came a culture, a fashion and a precise style that for a decade shaped an entire generation, the so-called 'Generation X', of boys and girls.

The programme of the day, organised by the Cultural Department of the Municipality of Pisa, includes the presentation of the book 'Videomusic. Our 80s' (Sala delle Baleari, Palazzo Gambacorti, 11.00 a.m.), by Clive Griffiths, better known to the Videomusic generation simply as 'Clive' or 'Kleever', with the presence of the councillor for culture, Pierpaolo Magnani, Rick Hutton and fashion designer Emilio Cavallini. The presentation will be a mix of words, music and images, enriched by anecdotes, behind-the-scenes stories and implications recounted by the author and accompanied by images portraying the musical and non-musical protagonists of the 1980s and a musical carpet with over 60 songs. In the afternoon, from 4 p.m. until midnight, a music show to watch and dance to in Piazza XX Settembre, with DJ Clive and DJ Johnny Parker, in collaboration with Radio Mitology 70-80.

The book "Videomusic. I Nostri Anni '80"(Eclettica Edizioni). The first book on early Italian music television. Reliving the '80s without regrets, but remembering that they were happy years. Because there was the Italian Lira, a sandwich maker around every corner and everyone wanted to marry Simon Le Bon. And because they were the years of Videomusic. Fragments of a life lived under the banner of visual music, in a decade set to music by Depeche Mode, Spandau Ballet, Madonna, Europe and George Michael, from heavy metal to dark music. Backcombed hair, recorded cassettes and home computers. A moving journey led by an iconic protagonist of early music television, together with his fellow travellers, Luca Carboni, Alex Britti, Righeira, Marco Baldini, Mixo, Ligabue, Gazebo, Emilio Cavallini, Linus, Savage, Maurizio Solieri, Andrea Pazienza, Alex Peroni, Nicola Savino, poets, look-artists, photographers, directors and the Videomusic team. With hundreds of unpublished images and documents.

Author Clive Malcolm Griffiths was a protagonist of the music broadcaster's first generation, with programmes such as 'Heavy with Kleever', 'Telemontepecora', 'Crazy Time' and 'Hot Line'. He later devoted himself to spreading the English language through song lyrics, on Radio Deejay and Radio Monte Carlo with 'Speak Easy'. Clive is also the author of educational books and audio books on specific uses of the English language.
