The Municipality of Pisa is hosting the exhibition "Mediterraneo" by artist Michele Roccotelli in the Spazio Sopra le Logge, scheduled for Saturday, May 16, to Wednesday, June 3, 2026. The exhibition will be open Monday to Sunday from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm and 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm and is part of the calendar of cultural initiatives linked to the 71st edition of the Palio delle Antiche Repubbliche Marinare Italiane, scheduled for June 2nd.

The exhibition will open on Saturday, May 16th at 11:30 a.m., in the presence of the curator, architect Luigi Roccotelli, and City Councilor Giovanna Bonanno, representing the municipal administration.

The exhibition features oil paintings on canvas and ceramic works through which Michele Roccotelli interprets the Mediterranean as a place of the soul, a meeting place between peoples, cultures, wind, sea, and land. A highly emotional artistic production, capable of evoking atmospheres, memories and suggestions that arise from the profound relationship with the Mediterranean landscape and with the Murgia, the artist's homeland. Roccotelli's painting is in fact characterised by an expressive research that is neither descriptive nor narrative, but entrusted to the power of colour and matter. His works recount emotions and inner states, restoring the warmth of the earth, the light of the sea and the rhythms of nature through an intense and recognizable artistic sensitivity. The exhibition finds a natural place in the context of the Palio delle Antiche Repubbliche Marinare, an event that every year draws crews, traditions and symbols from the four historic maritime cities –Amalfi, Genoa, Pisa and Venice– to Pisa in an ideal dialogue between art, history and Mediterranean identity.
