The Fortilizio della Cittadella - House of Pisan Artists hosts the exhibition "Women Goddesses. Artist Studies", promoted by the Municipality of Pisa and organized by the Arte Donna committee and curated by Gianfalco Masini.

It will be open to visitors until Sunday, May 24th, with free admission and the possibility of visiting the Guelph Tower at the following times:

  • Thursday and Friday from 4.00 pm to 7.00 pm
  • Saturday and Sunday from 10.00 am to 1.00 pm and from 4.00 pm to 7.00 pm

The exhibition presents the most recent works by the artists belonging to the Arte Donna committee, who interpret contemporary art through diverse expressive languages, techniques, and materials. Among the paintings are works by Maria Pia Gerbi, Antonietta Capecchi, Ne Niki (Huguette Accossano), Paola Tombini, and Monica Bartalini, alongside ceramic sculptures by Gabriella Gaudino, fiber art works by Gilda Cefariello Grosso, and photographs by Simona Savarelli.

The exhibition unfolds along a thematic path distributed across the different levels of the Fortilizio della Cittadella. On the ground floor, an introduction signed by the exhibiting artists is presented, featuring a collectively created work that has become the official image of the Arte Donna committee. Also on display are the portraits created by Ne Niki (Huguette Accossano), accompanied by critical notes written by the Lucchese painter Gianfalco Masini, curator of the exhibition, which illustrate the poetics of each individual artist. This section is completed by two group photographs of the artists taken by Simona Savarelli. The exhibition continues on the first floor, where eight works dedicated to the theme “Women Goddesses” are displayed—pieces measuring 80 × 80 cm in which each artist interprets female deities from mythology through her own expressive language. Finally, the second floor hosts a collective anthology, characterized by chromatic richness and a wide variety of expressive solutions. Alongside the works, a selection of materials used in their creation is also presented, including brushes, palettes, easels, fabrics, yarns, plaster molds, ceramic fragments, and photographic materials.

The Arte Donna committee was founded in 1978 as an association, on the initiative of Mimma Ghimenti, owner of the art gallery “Il Navicello,” together with other artists including Lia Micarelli, Marta Bibbiani, and Maddalena Piazza, with the aim of promoting an open and plural cultural exchange. Since 2023, it has been established as a committee and continues to foster dialogue among different forms of art, with constant attention to contemporary themes.
