The European Mobility Week will take place in Pisa from 16 to 22 September, an initiative promoted by the European Commission and dedicated to the theme “Mobility for all”. The aim is to raise awareness among citizens and students of the right to accessible, safe, sustainable and equitable mobility, reducing economic and infrastructural barriers that limit access to essential services, education and employment.

The program, organized by the Municipality of Pisa with the collaboration of Pisamo and local bodies, institutions and associations, includes training activities, experiential meetings and moments of dissemination. The initiatives will take place in various spaces of the city, including the Officine Garibaldi, the Logge dei Banchi and the Lungarni, with the participation of experts, psychologists, representatives of the institutions, municipal police forces and associations.

Many events are scheduled with a calendar full of initiatives and the return for the fourth consecutive year of breakfast on the middle deck on Sunday morning with the middle deck and the Arno rivers closed to traffic.

Friday September 19 Bike2Work dedicated to sustainable mobility, in collaboration with the University of Pisa, Scuola Normale and Scuola Sant'Anna, and to the journey from home to work by bike with meeting at 9.45 in Piazza dei Cavalieri and arrival at 10.20 in Logge dei Banchi where it is the official opening is scheduled with speeches from representatives of city and academic institutions. On the same and subsequent days, Officine Garibaldi will host workshops, simulations and educational activities dedicated to students on correct road behaviour, safety and the inclusion of people with disabilities and frailties. At 4pm with meeting in Piazza Vittorio Emanuele “Trammino aperitif cycle” inclusive pedaling with bike and tandem up to Piazza Gorgona with aperitif offered by a restaurant in Marina di Pisa.

On Saturday September 20, the program will continue with meetings dedicated to the psychological aspects related to mobility, the conscious use of electric scooters and guided experiences with driving simulators and sensory paths. In the afternoon, a national over-60 tennis team tournament will be held at the Piazzale dello Sport by the National Union of Sports Veterans. From 5.30pm Notte Bianca dello Sport with stands dedicated to mobility.

Sunday September 21 will be Car Free Day, with the closure of the Lungarni to traffic. Activities will include the “Mini Duathlon”, breakfast on the Ponte di Mezzo offered by Pisamo and a walk in the shadow of Piazza Santa Caterina at Officine Garibaldi, a breakfast on the Ponte di Mezzo and the “Walk of Kindness for Peace” in Piazza XX Settembre.

The European Mobility Week in Pisa is organized with the patronage and collaboration of Comune di Pisa, Pisamo, Eurocities, UICI Pisa, Unione Nazionale Veterani dello Sport, CSI Pisa, IPA, Gruppo Paim, Costruiamo Gentilezza, Fair Play, Eppur si Muove, BIT, Tower Bike e Briefing Studio.
