The exhibition. The installation consists of a selection of video art works dedicated to the theme of the sacredness of the moment, with a perspective that combines spirituality, classical art and contemporary art. The works, inspired by masterpieces by Leonardo, Caravaggio and Michelangelo, retrace the depictions of the Madonna and Mary Magdalene in a penitent attitude, offering a reinterpretation of the Pietà in a contemporary key, marked by the drama of war. Through slow motion and a visual language that alternates between impressionist and Caravaggesque influences, the artist invites us to rediscover the dimension of the present as a space of awareness and sacredness.
The artist. Nicola Raffaetà, born in Camaiore in 1980, is a director and videomaker active in cinema, documentaries and video art. After his debut in short films and the success of the documentary “AB. Fonte di vita” (awarded at the Imperia Video Festival 2011), he collaborated with TV and film companies, establishing himself in parallel in video art with works dedicated to the theme of the sacred moment. His works include ‘Equilibrio’ (awarded at the Firenze Film Corti Festival 2019), the installation ‘La Commedia’, created to mark the 700th anniversary of Dante, and recent projects such as ‘Lo spirito del tempo’ and ‘Cena in Emmaus’ for the 2025 Jubilee. His research combines spirituality, classical art and contemporary language through images that invite us to dwell on the present.
