On Sunday, 7 June, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., the new basketball court at the Castagnolo School in San Piero a Grado will host the “Minibasket Tournament of the Four Maritime Republics”, a sporting event dedicated to young players and aimed at promoting the educational values of sport.

The event is organized by the ASI Pisa Municipal Committee and IES Pisa, in collaboration with the Italian Basketball Federation (FIP), and will feature the participation of Dream Basket Pisa, IES Pisa, and Polisportiva Ghezzano.

The tournament will be one of the first sporting events held at the new playground inaugurated by the Municipality of Pisa on 20 May at the Castagnolo School, in the presence of Mayor Michele Conti, Councillors Frida Scarpa and Riccardo Buscemi, School Principal Lucio Bontempelli, local sports associations, and numerous members of the community.

The tournament will not include final rankings or standings; instead, it is intended as a true celebration of minibasket, placing participation, enjoyment, personal and athletic development, respect for the rules, social interaction, and fair play at its centre.

The initiative was conceived with the aim of promoting the new public sports facility as a place for community gathering, education, and well-being, in line with the shared vision of local institutions, schools, and sports associations. Sport is regarded as a fundamental instrument for social inclusion and personal development among younger generations, fostering positive relationships and encouraging healthy lifestyles.
