The evening and night on 16th June are dedicated to San Ranieri, patron of the city. In this occasion thousands of candles light Pisa up and draw the outlines of buildings and bridges creating a beautiful and unique scenery . Approximately 70,000 candles are placed in glasses embedded in wooden frames painted white (called " laundry"), built on the architecture of the buildings, bridges, churches and towers overlooking the Arno River. Pisa will be also lit by a fireworks display at around 11:30 pm.
