In the splendid premises of the church of Santa Maria della Spina in Pisa we find the magnificent works of the Leghorn artist Luca Bellandi. The exhibition entitled "Implodimi", curated by Riccardo Ferrucci, features three monumental canvases by the artist.

The exhibition aims to celebrate life through symbols that have become unmistakable icons of our time. Luca Bellandi's works have the desire to contaminate and absorb the spectator into their beauty and strength. Powerful paintings that want to react and give the viewer the vigour to react to life's adversities.

In fact, Riccardo Ferrucci, curator of the exhibition, writes: "The three works in Implodimi represent the culmination of a high-level reflection on drawing and painting which proceed jointly to achieve a final result of great strength, capable of evoking a profound feeling in the viewer, playing essentially on three colours - white, pink and black - which provoke a reaction of surprise and disquiet in the viewer, but, in the night and from the darkness, the idea of a future rebirth also emerges, a rainbow of colours, a new dawn".

The exhibition aims to find, or at least try to try to fortify, protect and nurture man's hopes. We all need to be contaminated by the beauty around us, while rediscovering the values and feelings of our existence.

The need for implosion grows at a time when the pandemic has put and continues to put all our certainties at risk. Being forced to stay inside, locked up in our homes and in our own little worlds, has increased the need to find ourselves and create new dimensions and spaces. From all this comes implosion. We need to build scenarios of beauty and pride within our galaxies. Luca Bellandi has found strength within himself, taken other paths and experimented with new artistic concepts, which he shows us in this new exhibition. Through his canvases, the artist wants to express and teach us the ability to absorb a shock without breaking, to react and draw strength from contingent situations.

The exhibition is organised by Casa d'Arte San Lorenzo, in collaboration with C.R.A. (Centro Raccolta Arti) and the support of FuoriLuogo, and boasts the patronage of the Region of Tuscany and the Municipality of Pisa.

The exhibition will be inaugurated on Thursday 13 January at 5 pm at the Church of Santa Maria della Spina, Lungarno Gambacorti, 56125 Pisa PI, and will be open until 6 February 2022.
