Start date:
End date:

On 30 November 2022 we celebrate Festa della Toscana  (Tuscan Day), the first edition of which was held in 2000, with the aim of not only celebrating this important historical event but also affirming the Region of Tuscany's commitment to the promotion of human rights, peace and justice.

On 30 November 1786, Pietro Leopoldo, Grand Duke of Tuscany, adopted a new penal code in which, for the first time in the world, the abolition of the death penalty and torture was decreed. The signing of this edict took place in Pisa, at the Royal Palace (now the National Museum) in Lungarno Antonio Pacinotti

For the occasion:

MUSEO DELLA GRAFICA on Wednesday 30 November at 6 pm, there will be the presentation of the exhibition 'The eye of science: a century of scientific photography in Italy (1839-1939)', organised by the Museo della Grafica and the Museo Galileo. The exhibition, curated by Claudia Addabbo and Stefano Casati, is part of the L'occhio della scienza (The Eye of Science) project, which aims to illustrate the fundamental cultural and scientific turning point that arose with the birth of photography in 1839. In dialogue with the exhibition "The Eye of Science: Giorgio Roster and Odoardo Beccari, Explorers of Places and Images" at the Stibbert Museum in Florence, the exhibition will be open until 26 February 2023. For the occasion, the museum will remain extraordinarily open until 10 p.m.
