A concert dedicated to two composers as refined as they are popular, also for their contribution to Italian cinema, interpreted by an unusual instrumental ensemble, the ORT Brass and Percussion Ensemble.
For Astor Piazzolla the ensemble draws on tracks from the album Libertango (1974), which represented a real turning point for the Argentine bandoneonist and composer, and the subsequent Oblivion (1984), linked to the musical collaboration with Marco Bellocchio for the film Enrico IV.
This is followed by a rich selection of film music by Ennio Morricone, the recently deceased Maestro, including both the films that launched him to success - Sergio Leone's spaghetti westerns, but also Elio Petri's political cinema and much more - and the film scores of his consecration, linked to his long collaboration with Giuseppe Tornatore.

The ORT Brass & Percussion Ensemble is made up of musicians who hold the role of first parts in the ORT - Orchestra della Toscana and hold the chair of teaching of their instruments in Italian Conservatories.
In their more than twenty-year career they have played in Italian and European festivals, interpreting both the original repertoire for brass instruments and other genres ranging from important film soundtracks to the great tangos of Astor Piazzolla, with the aim of entertaining the audience with performances of the highest musical level.
They have three CDs to their credit, the first two for the Azzurra label, with the participation of pianist Andrea Lucchesini, dedicated to film music, the third CD for the NAXOS label on the compositions of Astor Piazzolla and the participation of violinist Andrea Tacchi.
An evening of great music will be waiting for you, which wants to be a tribute to a formation and a genre that can combine a very high artistic quality, thanks to the charm of the music and the level of the performers, with a spontaneity and musical immediacy that appeals to a wide audience.

The long season of Sunday encounters will be closed by three appointments dedicated to the discovery and enhancement of young musical talents trained in the Masterclasses of the Accademia di Musica Stefano Strata. The three double concerts, which will be introduced by musicologist Milli Russo, will be held on Sundays 10 and 24 April and 8 May.

All the concerts, as well as the appointments with literature, are introduced by a short presentation by expert musicologists and scholars from our university and are held from 11 a.m. in the auditorium of Palazzo Blu, also streamed on Palazzo Blu's web and social channels.

To participate, you must have a green pass and wear a mask.

Required bookings can be made via https://www.eventbrite.it/
