"Urban Nature: the festival of nature in the city" promoted by WWF Italy returns on Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 October, celebrating the value of urban greenery in all cities of Italy.

Now in its ninth edition, Urban Nature aims to stimulate reflection on the value of urban greenery in all cities of Italy and involve communities. The 2025 edition will be a widespread urban festival with many initiatives in the regional and provincial capitals aimed at making clear to those who live in Italian cities the value of nature and the need to innovate the way of thinking and planning urban spaces, also through the creation of meeting moments in public gardens and botanical gardens.

The aim is to raise awareness and make everyone aware of the “Nature” that lives in cities and its extraordinary importance for our well-being, our health and safety.

On Saturday 4 October 2025, the Botanical Garden and Museum of the University of Pisa participates in Urban Nature 2025 with a free guided tour in two shifts, upon reservation.

Afternoon, 3 pm-4 pm

During the visit it will be possible to discover all seven sectors of the Botanical Garden and the Botanical Museum, housed in the so-called Shell Building inside the Garden. Furthermore, in some sectors, the botanical peculiarities of many plant species will be shown, such as the gymnosperms of the Cedar Garden or the plants housed in the succulent greenhouse and other greenhouses present.
