For the cycle “Seeing Hope: a journey through the works”, the next event will be held in Pisa on the afternoon of Saturday 29 November in the church of Santa Caterina at 5 pm, where Pierluigi Carofano will talk about the painting dedicated by Aurelio Lomi to the Martyrdom of the Saint of Alexandria. The critical history of the work, which has recently undergone major restoration, will be explored in the broader context of the painter's work, one of the leading figures in Pisan art between the 16th and 17th centuries.
The meeting, introduced by a reflection by Monsignor Roberto Filippini on the theme of Hope, is promoted as part of the initiatives organised by the Archdiocese of Pisa on the occasion of the Holy Year 2025. The conferences, scheduled to take place monthly between April 2025 and January 2026, have been held in the jubilee venues and will continue in various churches of the Archdiocese of Pisa, in front of a work of art that will be given a historical-artistic interpretation and iconographic analysis.
