The charm of books: Byron in the Tower of Ugolino is the title of the exhibition set up in the Tower of the Clock Palace of the Normal that will be inaugurated on Friday, June 27.

From Friday, June 27 to Saturday, July 5 with continuous hours from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Admission free.

In addition to an autograph letter by Lord Byron to Mary Shelley and fine first nineteenth-century editions of Byron’s works, you can admire the very rare Pisan copy of the first two issues of "Liberal. Verse and Prose from the South", the magazine conceived by Lord Byron, Percy Bysshe Shelley and Leigh Hunt during their stay in Pisa in 1822. It is the only known specimen in Italy and testifies to the lively and controversial intellectual activity of the so-called "Pisan circle".

The exhibition is born from the collaboration between the Department of Philology, Literature and Linguistics of the University of Pisa, the Library of the Scuola Normale Superiore, with the involvement of the Pisan Librarian System and the University Library of Pisa.
