Sunday 4 February sees the renewal of the appointment with Sunday at the Museum, the Ministry of Culture initiative that allows free entry, every first Sunday of the month, to state museums and archaeological parks.

The National Museum of San Matteo will be open from 9 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. (last admission at 1 p.m.).

At 11.00 a.m., in the Hall of the Painted Crosses, the author and the museum director, Pierluigi Nieri, will illustrate the very recent publication 'Pisa Museo di San Matteo, visita alle Croci dipinte' by Patrizia Lasagni.

The author of the book wanted to provide the museum with a communication tool with which to tell a wide audience of visitors about the National Museum of St. Matthew's collection of monumental painted Crosses, recognised as the most important in the world, which testifies to one of the pinnacles of the Pisan School in the 11th - 13th centuries, and medieval art.

The National Museum of the Royal Palace will be open from 9 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. (last entrance at 1 p.m.).

At 11 a.m. there will be a free guided tour focusing on the figure of Galileo Galilei and his connection with Pisa and the Medici court.

The museums of the Sistema Museale d'Ateneo will also have free admission:

Orto e Museo Botanico, open from 8.30 a.m. to 5 p.m. (last admission at 4 p.m.) with the exhibition "To every wood its fungus";
