Sunday, 7 December 2025 marks the return of Domenica al Museo (Sunday at the Museum), an initiative by the Ministry of Culture that offers free admission to state museums and archaeological parks on the first Sunday of every month.
As on every first Sunday of the month, the Ateno Museum System, with the “Edda Bresciani” Egyptian Collections and the Museum of Graphics, is participating in the initiative.
There will also be special openings for the Feast of the Immaculate Conception on Monday 8 December.
NATIONAL MUSEUMS OF PISA
NATIONAL MUSEUM OF SAN MATTEO
- Sunday 7 December: 9 am to 6 pm (last admission at 5.30 pm) - free admission. At 11 am, Prof. Marco Collareta will present Gail Solberg's book Taddeo di Bartolo. The conversation will take place in the Simone Martini room, then move to the adjacent room, where numerous works by Taddeo di Bartolo, who stayed in Pisa several times at the end of the 14th century, are on display.

NATIONAL MUSEUM OF PALAZZO REALE
- Sunday 7 December: 9 am to 1.30 pm (last admission at 1 pm) - free admission. At 11 am, Festa della Toscana, commemoration of the promulgation of the Leopoldine Code (which took place in Pisa on 30 November 1786). Presentation of the book: “Chi era”?- La storia degli illustri personaggi delle scuole pisane";

MUSEUM OF ANCIENT SHIPS
- Sunday 7 December: 10 am to 7.30 pm (last admission at 6.30 pm) -free admission. At 5 pm “Sotto il segno del Sol Invictus: credenze e culti dei marinai romani”, paid activities for children organised by Cooperativa Archeologia and Itinera;
- Monday 8 December: 2 pm to 7.30 pm, special opening with admission fee;
- Tuesday 9 December: CLOSED;
MONUMENTAL COMPLEX OF THE CERTOSA DI CALCI
- Sunday 7 December: 9 am to 1.30 pm (last admission at 1 pm) - free admission the courtyard of honour and the frescoed church. Full itinerary only available with a guided tour organised by Cooperativa Archeologia e Itinera at a charge: 9.30 am, 10.30 am, 11.30 am, 12.30 pm. At 10.00 am, “Christmas in Certosa”, themed tour;
- Monday 8 December: 9 am to 1.30 pm (last admission at 1 pm), special opening with admission fee to the courtyard of honour and the frescoed church. Full itinerary only with guided tour at an additional cost organised by Cooperativa Archeologia e Itinera at 9.30am, 10.30am, 11.30am and 12.30pm.
