On Wednesday 11 March at 4 pm, there will be a special opening of the Chapel of Saints Efisio and Potito in the Archbishop's Palace.
The opening is part of the series of meetings entitled “The other Pisa: modern Pisa and its churches”, promoted in collaboration between the Friends of the Museums and Monuments of Pisa and the Office of Ecclesiastical Cultural Heritage of the Archdiocese of Pisa.
After a general historical introduction based on descriptions by ecclesiastical scholars in guidebooks and archival documents, there will be a discussion of the 18th-century Grand Construction Project and the decoration of the chapels, the frescoes in the antechapel and the Chapel of Ordinations.
On this occasion, there will be an opportunity to view a selection of historical documents from the diocesan archive and admire the Limonaia garden, recently restored by the Opera della Primaziale.
Given the unique nature of the venue, the number of admissions will be limited. Reservations are required by calling +39 050 40979 (onday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.) or directly at the venue in Piazza dell'Arcivescovado 18.
