A day between history, identity and tradition of Pisa. Will be held on Sunday, July 13 at the Parco delle Concette di Pisa the V Edition of the Historical Reenactment of the End of the Siege of the French Army (10 July 1500), the III Palio delle Magistrature del Gioco del Ponte and the Palio degli Antichi Quartieri di Pisa, this year at its first edition.
In addition, from 18.00 the Walls of Pisa participate in the event offering the opportunity to make guided tours with the narration of the most significant episodes of the siege days (29 June/ 10 July 1500) and with visitors who can walk on the tracks, still visible, of the breaches caused by the French artillery.
For the occasion, the cost of the ticket will have a reduced price of 3 euros instead of 5, with the section of Mura concerned (between Torre di Legno and piazza delle Gondole) that will remain open one hour longer than normal opening hours, then until 21.00.
The initiative is promoted by Balestrieri di Porta San Marco, with the support of the Municipality of Pisa and the participation of Mura di Pisa, Compagnia D'Arme "Leone Rampante" and Alfieri e Musici di Porta Pisana.
The complete programme
- 9.30 - Setting up of the historic camps by the Company of Arms "Rampant Lion", with defensive lines and Renaissance artillery;
- 12.00 - Placing of the laurel wreath on the city walls by the Authorities, with the participation of the Gonfalone of Pisa and the Valets in historical costume;
- 18.00 - Guided tours on the walls of Pisa with narration of the main phases of the siege (29 June - 10 July 1500);
- 18.30 - Dispute of the III° Palio delle Magistrature, with challenge between the representatives of the Magistrates of the two historical parts of the Game of the Bridge: Tramontana and Mezzogiorno, who will face each other in true blows on pancaccio, each with six crossbowlers. In the event of a tie, it will be the two "national" (the best scores) to declare victory.
