From 25 April 2026, Palazzo Blu will host “Piero Macola. Landscapes of Life”, the 2026 exhibition of graphic art, illustration and comics, curated by Giorgio Bacci and dedicated to Piero Macola (Venice, 1976), one of the most influential figures in contemporary art comics.

It will be open until Sunday 8 November 2026:

  • Tuesday–Friday 10 am-7 pm;
  • Saturday, Sunday and public holidays 10 am-8 pm;

Having trained at the Saint-Luc Institute in Brussels and working between Paris and Italy, Macola has built an international career, collaborating since 2014 with the publisher Futuropolis and publishing in Italy with Oblomov and Coconino Press. Alongside his comic work, he works as an illustrator for publishers and publications such as Mondadori, Rizzoli, Le Monde Diplomatique and Internazionale.
His visual language, the result of a dialogue between documentation, direct experience and imagination, explores themes such as memory, identity and marginality, striking a balance between reality and fiction.

Through a rich selection of original plates, sketches and preparatory materials, the exhibition traces a number of emblematic works: *Le Tirailleur* (2014), dedicated to postcolonial memory; *Gli indesiderati* (2019), set along the River Po; Lagune (2023), a Venetian dystopia; and La Vallée heureuse (2026), presented as an exclusive preview whilst still in progress, offering visitors the rare opportunity to observe a work in the making. The exhibition is rounded off by a selection of illustrations created between 2015 and 2025.
