During the Christmas holiday season, the Church of Santa Maria della Spina will host the traditional Nativity scene.

Starting Saturday, December 6, the traditional Nativity scene will be set up inside the Church of Santa Maria della Spina, which once again this year will accompany residents and visitors throughout the Christmas festivities. The monument’s special openings will allow visitors to see both the church and the Nativity scene at various times throughout the month of December and up to Epiphany.

Beginning December 6, the Spina will be open to visitors with both morning and afternoon hours (10 a.m.–1 p.m. and 3 p.m.–6 p.m.) on weekends and public holidays, including the Feast of the Immaculate Conception (December 8), Christmas Eve, St. Stephen’s Day, and December 31, with the exception of Christmas Day, when the church will remain closed. On weekdays, only afternoon openings are scheduled, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The new year will begin with extended hours: from January 1 to January 6, the church will be open in the morning from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and in the afternoon from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., allowing visitors to view the Nativity scene through Epiphany.

With the conclusion of the holiday season, from January 7 until the end of March, the Church of Santa Maria della Spina will return to its usual winter schedule, opening every Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
